1953 Martin D-18 Binding Reglue
Ever heard of the “D-18 Song” written by Jerry Faires and recorded by Norman Blake and Tony Rice? This is the D-18 the song was written about. Jerry was in town for a gig and dropped the D-18 off to me for a little binding reglue job. What a boomer this one is! She’s been around the block a time or two but still sings loud and clear.
1963 Harmony Sovereign Neck Reset
The action was a little over 4mm (roughly 3/16″) across the board. After the neck reset, it reads 2.7mm (7/64″) on the low E string and just under 1.9mm (~ 5/64″) on the high E string. Much improved and plays like a dream, nice and easy!
1963 Harmony Sovereign Bridge Reglue
These old Harmonys take a lickin’ but keep on tickin’. The side had a long split in it and had already been patched when I got the guitar. The bridge (non-original) was already off. And it needs a neck reset, which will be a future project!
